Hi Lissa! Was wondering if you’d share some of your writing process. I personally can’t choose if I should write on my phone or computer atm lol. But I’d love to get some tips on how you write such great stuff

Ahh jeez, firstly my writing process is chaotic ~lol. I usually start on my phone, mostly for convenience. Then, I edit it and post it on desktop. I just use Google docs when I'm writing

My first step is to write out whatever ideas I have, then I flesh them out into something a little more readable. And then I keep writing until the thing is finished or I get stuck.

If I get stuck, I just let it sit for a while and work on other projects. Then I go back, read it over, copy and paste the things I like and trash the rest. Then go from there. Often repeating the process until I'm happy with it.

Know your weaknesses! I love to ramble, so I cut out a lot of things to make it all flow better. Sometimes you just have to save ideas for other fics just because it doesn't feel right for your current project.

The first thing I've ever written was Bloodbath, (I'm very proud of that title, it still makes me laugh) I was really in the trenches with that one, re-writing paragraphs over and over. Pulling up thesaurus.com like I'm doing my dissertation.

I've learned to relax and just let my thoughts flow instead of getting bogged down with trying to find the perfect word or describe every little emotion with precise detail. Sometimes less is more and you can't put everything you want into one fic.

I'm also terrrriiibbbllleeee at endings, I tend to write just different versions of 'and then they lived happily ever after' and just leave it at that. Like... I'm mostly just writing smut, it doesn't need to be life changing.

Lastly, know what you want to get out of your story and then try to think how you'd best achieve that. Personally, I always have two main objectives in mind: stay true to the characters and have it sound as natural and realistic as possible.

The most important thing is that it has to feel fun and exciting for you to write. Because if it's not fun for you, it won't be fun for the readers either.

Discussion prompt: I'm wonder why Teyla will wear the Atlantis uniform (or parts of it) but Ronon refuses. Maybe she found them really comfortable? Also, where did Ronon get all of his clothes?? I'm assuming he just had the clothed on his back as a runner.

i think teyla views the uniform basically as a work uniform (which is why we see her in it for off world missions but if she's doing something for her people, she's usually in her traditional athosian dress), i think she wears it because everyone else does so it creates a sense of unity and community, which i think would be very important to teyla (i also think she hopes it'll help the atlanteans see her as part of them)

ronon on the other hand doesn't give a shit about what the atlanteans think and only chose to stay in atlantis bc it was convenient and he didn't really have anywhere else to go (plus that sheppard guy is super chill with being beat up all the time so cool bonus) plus ronon believes he's the sole survivor of his people for a very long time and i think holding on to the parts of his heritage and culture that he can, even if it's just the clothing style, is important to him. i also think ronon makes a lot of new clothes after coming to atlantis specifically as a way to try to reconnect with his heritage, because i would imagine you lose a lot of yourself and your culture when you spend 7 years being hunted for sport

so i’ve always headcanoned that sophie was a swiftie before coming to the lost cities, but given the timeline i saw, it was probably taylor’s older music. her ipod probably has some classics like picture to burn and should’ve said no. she’s definitely a fearless gal at heart (*jumps off a cliff to teleport* “head first fearless”)

fitz feels like a red guy, purely from all the angry vibes we get from him. also the revenge side of reputation, which i know isn’t much but it still feels like something he’d scream his heart out to with mr. snuggles

keefe, however. buddy, you are a reputation guy. he’s such a hopeless romantic (in my head anyway) but like your mother wronged you? your father hates you? your crush is dating your best friend? *turns volume all the way up* THEY SAY I DID SOMETHING BAD *you kiss her* THEN WHY’S IT FEEL SO GOOD???? he’s also a ttpd guy because of the ✨ emotional damage✨

biana feels like a speak now girl. independent and she knows her own self worth!! also i feel like she’d be a good singer, so she could totally do the high notes in enchanted. and she’d definitely jam to better than revenge after nightfall!!

tam. we may all think he’s a reputation guy, but he’s a total softie and a huge folklore stan. but i won’t sit here and tell you folklore is so light and happy! there’s some dark stuff on folklore, but also that “i know i miss you” kinda stuff. not to mention that element of always being there and watching (official tam cam activity)

linh however feels like a lover girl. i’m so sorry but she is a hopeless romantic 🩷 i love her. again there’s also the “i hope i never lose you” aspect. but she also just feels so happy and optimistic that i can’t not say she’s a lover girl.

marella feels like a midnights girl, and it’s not because of all the gossip and the song paris (ok maybe it kinda is). also her flavored air. that stuff has to be, like, kid-friendly smoking. she also gives off the vibe that she never sleeps.

stina is debut because i feel like i’d give her a country accent. (“so yer fearless moonlark ain’t got no plan, eh?” i’m so sorry.) and she SO gives off picture to burn and should’ve said no vibes! read: angry country

maruca gets 1989 for two reasons. a, we haven’t had a 1989 yet, and b, she just feels like the kinda gal who’d live in new york and be a city girlie. i don’t know that much about her so i’m sorry i feel like i didn’t do her justice 😭

dex in the first few books is kinda like one of those kids in middle school who's kind of a creep and a little crusty but he's chill enough to hang out with. he grows out of the Weird Vibe in highschool. he also probably smokes weed if we're being realistic.

anywho, I really like this actually since everyone (including myself) sees Dex as a cinnamon roll, but he is in no way innocent. He's one of those band kids that knows all about the nuclear missile sites in the midwest.

Hello, and welcome to the fandom! And yes, there is... something. But as of yet, nobody knows what.

To sum up the situation: in July of 2019, Pacat alluded to some Big Captive Prince News in a newsletter to fans, saying it was "something readers have been asking for since the book was first published."

... however, it has been. Uh.

Happy late 5th anniversary to The Big News Announcement ig. Damn, that's a long time. Anyway, Pacat still posts about it occasionally, so we assume that—whatever it is—it's still in the works.

Most recently they posted about it after X was shut down in Brazil. A fan tweeted at them asking that they not release it "until the ban is lifted." Credit to Tumblr user @nasirsagron for posting this and making me aware of it (I don't have X).

Sooooo we can kind of assume that, whatever it is, it's taking a while. I don't think it's a TV adaptation (Pacat will jokingly post "HBO @ ME!!!" every once in a while, which would imply they're not currently working with a tv studio). Other common guesses include a graphic novel adaptation, an illustrated edition, a manga/anime, etc. Personally... I have absolutely no idea lol. Given how long it's taking, I assume it has to be a big undertaking, but other than that I have no clue.

Dex personally mixed most of the concoctions Keefe used for pranks long before the two ever met. Just, by proxy through Slurps and Burps, Dex’s pettiness aided Keefe’s mischief

there is no way he hasn’t gotten into multiple fistfights over this. honestly i think he got into a fight with Stina over it in first year, two little 11yo fighting in the hallway

but i think his parents had explain to him that he can’t act like that because people expect that of bad matches and he will end up in a ton of trouble for it, or even end up expelled because nobility really wants to get rid of the bad matches whenever they can, and because of that he stopped and just kept to himself until Sophie came along
